Apple‘s Vision Pro AR headset hasn’t quite taken off as expected. However, the company isn’t throwing in the towel just yet. Here’s a breakdown of what’s happening with Vision Pro and what lies ahead, as per Mark Gurman from Bloomberg:

The users will also be able to view personal photos and videos, including panoramas, within the headset

  • Apple is actively working on integrating its AI technology, known as Apple Intelligence, into the headset’s AR interface (visionOS). This is expected to improve the general user experience for the headset users.
  • Apple is revamping in-store demos to provide a more comprehensive experience. The new “Go Deeper” option allows potential buyers to test features like office applications and video viewing. Vision Pro users will also be able to view personal videos and photos, including panoramas, within the headset soon. This feature is expected to be further enhanced with the upcoming visionOS 2 update and its “spatialize” option, which can transform 2D photos into 3D experiences.
  • Rumors point towards Apple focusing on developing a more affordable headset targeted for release by the end of next year. The details are still hazy, with conflicting reports suggesting either lower-resolution displays for a successor to the Vision Pro or a complete shift in focus towards this budget-friendly option.

The biggest challenge seems to be balancing cost with the high-resolution displays currently offered in the Vision Pro. While it’s too early to say the Vision Pro is a dead end, Apple is likely to introduce a more affordable version of the headset. We will find out soon!
