Microsoft has partnered with Amazon to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to Fire TV Sticks, expanding access to over 25 countries starting in July 2024. This allows Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to play games directly on select Fire TV devices.
The Xbox app will be available on the 2023 Fire TV Stick 4K Max ($59.99) and Fire TV Stick 4K ($49.99). Users will need an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, a compatible Fire TV Stick, a Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller, and a reliable internet connection.
Getting Started
To start gaming:
- Install the Xbox app from the Amazon Appstore on your Fire TV Stick.
- Sign in with your Microsoft account.
- Connect a Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller (compatible options include the Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, PlayStation DualSense, or DualShock 4).
- Start playing.
Game Pass Ultimate members get access to a large library of games, including “Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II,” “Starfield,” and “Forza Horizon 5.” Fallout fans can also play “Fallout 76” and “Fallout 4” alongside the new Fallout TV show on Prime Video. Non-members can enjoy games like “Fortnite.”

This collaboration offers a cost-effective solution compared to Microsoft’s previous plan to launch a standalone Xbox streaming device, which was canceled due to high costs. The Fire TV Stick provides a similar experience at a lower price point, making cloud gaming more affordable.
In related news, Microsoft has recently unveiled a White Xbox Series X color option along with 1TB of storage priced at $449.99. This is a cheaper alternative for games who do not wish to spend $599.99 for the 2T Galaxy Black version of the console.
