Realme has just launched the GT 6 smartphone for the global market. This sub-flagship device features Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor and boasts the world’s brightest display at 6000 nits. However, the competition is not idle.

Xiaomi’s recent offering the Xiaomi 14 Civi is similarly priced to Realme’s GT 6, runs on the same Snapdragon processor, and the two devices are so alike in other aspects that it can be challenging to decide between them. Naturally, we decided to write a comparison between these two smartphones. Let’s begin.

Realme GT 6 vs Xiaomi 14 Civi

1. Display

The Realme GT 6 features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Xiaomi 14 Civi opts for a slightly smaller 6.55-inch AMOLED screen with the same 120Hz refresh rate. However, Realme has the edge in terms of display technology.

The GT 6’s panel includes flagship-grade 8T LTPO technology, supporting a variable refresh rate from 0.5 to 120Hz, 2160Hz PWM dimming, Greenfield AI protection, and several other features designed to reduce eye fatigue.

Additionally, the GT 6’s screen can reach a peak brightness of 6000 nits, surpassing even flagship models like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Note that its just the peak it can achieve. For normal contents, the brightness maxes out at 1000 nits.

In comparison, the Xiaomi 14 Civi offers a peak brightness of 3000 nits but boasts a higher 12-bit color depth compared to the 10-bit color depth of the GT 6. Both displays are protected by Corning Glass Victus 2 for resistance against drops and scratches.

2. Design

In terms of design, both the Xiaomi 14 Civi and Realme GT 6 feature curved displays with slim bezels. On the back, the Realme GT 6 has a cleaner look with a glass back accented by a mirror-like stripe across the rear camera module. It comes in Silver, Green, and Purple color options.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi 14 Civi offers different back designs depending on the color variant. The Shadow Black variant features a plain glass back, while the Matcha Green variant combines a vegan leather finish with a glass inlay for a distinctive look. The Cruise Blue variant also features a two-tone textured glass finish.

Xiaomi 14 Civi

The Xiaomi 14 Civi is notably slim and lightweight as well, measuring a maximum of 7.8mm thick and weighing 179.3 grams. In comparison, the Realme GT 6 is slightly thicker at 8.6mm and heavier at 199 grams. As for ingress protection, the Realme GT 6 holds an IP65 rating, offering better resistance to dust and water compared to the Xiaomi 14 Civi’s IP54 rating.

3. Performance and Software

Both phones are powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor which is a pretty reliable performer for everyday tasks and even for intensive gaming sessions.

Memory-wise, you can get them with 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB or UFS 4.0 storage. Additionally, the Realme GT 6 is available with a higher 16GB RAM option. Both devices run on the Android 14 operating system, customized with their respective skins on top.

4. Camera

The camera systems on both phones are geared towards everyday use but with some key differences. The Realme GT 6 features a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a secondary 50MP telephoto lens.

The Xiaomi 14 Civi also has a triple rear camera system with a 50MP main, a 50MP telephoto, and a 12MP ultrawide sensor.

On the front, the Realme GT 6 sports a single, 32MP camera, while the Xiaomi 14 Civi is home to a dual front-facing camera consisting of a 32MP main and 32MP ultra-wide angle camera. Not to forget, Xiaomi also has Leica optimization for its cameras.

While the Xiaomi 14 Civi appears to have a more versatile camera setup on paper, hardware alone doesn’t dictate performance—software optimization plays a big role in camera performance. So it’s recommended to go through reviews from reliable sources to gauge how well each phone’s camera system performs in real-world conditions.

5. Battery and Charging

Moving on, the Realme GT 6 comes equipped with a larger 5500mAh battery compared to Xiaomi 14 Civi’s 4700mAh capacity. As a result, we expect Realme GT 6 to provide longer battery life on a single charge. Realme also offers a faster charging speed at 120W whereas the Xiaomi 14 Civi offers a still commendable 67W fast charging solution.

Note that neither device supports wireless charging or reverse wireless charging options, which may be a consideration for some users.

6. Price

In terms of pricing, the Realme GT 6 starts at Rs 40,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The higher-tier options include a 12GB RAM with 256GB storage variant priced at Rs 42,999 and a 16GB RAM with 512GB storage variant priced at Rs 44,999.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi 14 Civi’s pricing starts at Rs 42,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, which is slightly higher than the base model of the Realme GT 6. The 12GB RAM with 512GB storage variant of the Xiaomi 14 Civi is priced at Rs 47,999, which is even higher than the highest configuration of the Realme GT 6 (16GB RAM and 512GB storage).

Both phones are available at lower prices through bank discounts and other promotions, but overall, the Realme GT 6 appears to offer better pricing across its range compared to the Xiaomi 14 Civi.

7. Conclusion

Both the Realme GT 6 and Xiaomi 14 Civi offer compelling features, and choosing between them is a matter of personal priority.

You can opt for the Xiaomi 14 Civi if you need a versatile camera system (plus optimizations from the professional camera brand Leica), and prefer a slim and compact design. Or go with the Realme GT 6 if a larger display, higher RAM configurations, longer battery life, and faster charging speed are features that you need. To reiterate, Realme’s offering is also more affordable than the Xiaomi 14 Civi.
