Last month, Oppo introduced the Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro in China. The brand’s international arm has begun hinting at the imminent launch of these models for the global market. Although the global debut of these phones is anticipated later this month, leaks have already surfaced disclosing the specifications of the global variants. These leaks indicate notable distinctions between the Chinese and global editions of the Reno 12 and 12 Pro. Let’s delve into the discrepancies between the two versions.

Before proceeding, readers should be aware that Oppo has not officially confirmed the specifications of the global Reno 12 series. The comparison presented here is based solely on the rumored specifications of the global versions.
The Oppo Reno 12 (China) and Reno 12 (Global) share similarities in their displays, both featuring a 6.7-inch AMOLED FHD+ screen, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1200 nits of brightness. However, the global variant specifies Corning Gorilla Glass 7 protection, whereas the Chinese version doesn’t specify glass protection. The global Reno 12 will have a dual-side curved display, whereas the Chinese variant is equipped with a micro quad-curved screen.
The leaked images of the global versions show that their design will be very similar to the Chinese counterparts. The global version is likely to measure 161.38 x 74.14 x 7.57 mm and weigh 178 grams, while the Chinese variant measures 161.4 x 74.8 x 7.25mm and weighs 179 grams. Both variants offer IP65 water resistance.
The global model is said to come in colors like Black Brown and Astro Silver. On the other hand, the Chinese model is available in options like Soft Peach, Millennium Silver, and Ebony Black.
The MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy chipset and 12 GB of LPDDR4x RAM are reportedly present in the global Reno 12. On the other hand, the Chinese version opts for the Dimensity 8250 Star Speed Edition and features 12 GB / 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM. The global is likely to come with 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, whereas the Chinese model has 256 GB / 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Battery capacity and charging speed are consistent across both variants, with a 5000mAh battery and 80W charging support.
The global Reno 12 will have a 32-megapixel front camera, and its back panel is said to feature an OIS-enabled 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera.
In comparison, the Reno 12’s Chinese variant has a 50-megapixel selfie camera. The rear camera setup of the device features the same primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom.
