Huawei might soon announce the Nova 13 series of premium mid-range smartphones in China. But ahead of any official announcement, a fresh report has revealed more details regarding the Nova 13 Lite and hinted at some of its upgrades.

Huawei Nova 13 Lite may get a much-needed 5G upgrade

An unknown Huawei smartphone had previously been spotted on the PSD-AL00 model number on 3C certification. This device was expected to be the Nova 13 series but the exact model was unclear. However, a NoteBookCheck report has claimed that this device is likely the successor to the Nova 12 Lite. To recall, the Nova 12 Lite was the entry-level model of the premium mid-range smartphones.

However, these devices came equipped with 4G and LTE networking. But the upcoming model could finally support 5G processors. So we can also expect the base Nova 13 and the higher end Nova 13 Pro and Nova 13 Ultra also to feature 5G connectivity. Unlike the previous generation, the Nova 13 Lite would skip the Snapdragon 778G for a 5G Kirin processor. This device is even expected to launch sometime later this year.

Based on the 3C certification, the Huawei Nova 13 Lite is expected to support 66W wired fast charging. In other words, the more expensive Pro and Ultra variants could benefit from a faster 100W wired fast charging. These will likely also include variable-aperture rear cameras. It is still unsure whether Huawei will launch the Nova 13 series in the global market outside of China in 2024.

The Huawei Nova 13 series apparently had its launch pushed back to July 2024. In related news, the Nova 13 Pro and Nova 13 Ultra are rumored to be equipped with the Kirin 9010 processor and feature the XMAGE imaging technology. This is all the information we have at the moment, so stay tuned for more updates.
