The Vivo S18 Pro was launched in China back in December 2023 and nearly six months after the Vivo S19 Pro has also been unveiled. This latest device arrives as the successor to the S18 Pro. But what’s the difference between the two and what are all the upgrades? Find out in this list.

1. Vivo S19 Pro vs Vivo S18 Pro: Design & Display

A noticeable difference between the two devices is the design. The Chinese brand has refreshed the rear panel to feature a pill-shaped module with a circular camera island on the S19 Pro. To recall, the S18 Pro offered a rectangular module that housed a square camera island. However, you still get the twin LED flash setup that includes a regular dual-tone flash and a larger soft LED lighting.

The front side hasn’t received as big of a change. Both devices sport a tall 6.78-inch curved AMOLED that offers Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Vivo S18 Pro’s panel offers 2,800 nits of peak brightness, while the S19 Pro comes with an impressive 4,500 nits of peak brightness. Another upgrade is for water and dust resistance. This year’s model comes with an IP68/IP69K rating, while last year’s device comes with an IP54 rating.

2. Specifications: Same chip, but bigger battery

Vivo has brought back the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+, which was equipped on the Vivo S18 Pro, to the newer S19 Pro model as well. This is a high-end chip so you can expect similar performance between the two. The processor is also paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

Under the hood, the Vivo S18 Pro is powered by a 5,000mAh battery pack, which supports 18W fast charging. On the other hand, the Vivo S19 Pro houses a larger 5,500mAh battery pack with 80W wired fast charging as well. So you get a 10 percent bump in battery capacity with the newer model.

3. Camera

For optics, the two smartphones offer a 50-megapixel triple camera setup on the rear and a 50-megapixel selfie shooter on the front. The newer S19 Pro model gets an updated Sony IMX921 with OIS along with an 8-megapixel ultra wide angle lens and a 50-megapixel telephoto shooter that also offers OIS with 50x digital zoom.

Meanwhile, the S18 Pro offers the Sony IMX920 as the primary sensor with a 50-megapixel ultra wide angle lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto shooter with 2x optical zoom. In other words, you can expect a slightly better primary camera with improvements in zoomed shots as well (at least on paper).

Pricing

After nearly half a year, the Vivo S19 series arrives more as a refresh than a complete successor. But there is still a slight price hike between the two lineups. The Vivo S18 Pro starts from 3,199 Yuan (roughly $450), while the S19 Pro starts from 3,299 Yuan (roughly $465). The former arrives in white, green, and black color variants, and the latter has Blue, Gray, and Green color options.
