At Computex 2024, MediaTek will showcase its new Kompanio 838 chipset for Chromebooks. The brand has released details of the chip ahead of the event, revealing that it uses a 6nm process and offers significant performance upgrades over its predecessor.

This new chip has a 66% faster CPU and 76% faster GPU. A key feature is support for dual 4K displays, perfect for both entertainment (streaming 4K content) and productivity (connecting to high-resolution monitors).
Connectivity is boosted with Wi-Fi 6 and 6E via MediaTek’s Filogic technology, ensuring faster and more reliable internet. Battery life is another focus, with the chipset enabling Chromebooks to last a full day on a charge.
The Kompanio 838 doesn’t neglect multimedia either. It features the MediaTek Imagiq 7-series ISP for professional-grade photo and video with dual camera support.
