A leaked image suggests the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will address a long-standing user request: a wider cover screen. The image, shared by reliable tipster Ice Universe, compares the Galaxy Z Fold 6 to its predecessor, the Z Fold 5, and clearly shows a more expansive cover display.

The wider screen should significantly improve the typing experience on the foldable phone, making it feel less cramped and more like a traditional smartphone. It could also help alleviate aspect ratio issues encountered in some apps and games.

The tipster also shared renders of the back design, comparing it to the Galaxy Z Fold 5. As you can see, the Z Fold 5 has more rounded edges, while the Fold 6 features a boxier design similar to Samsung’s latest S-flagships. Although the tipster suggests that the rendering isn’t completely accurate, it shows the expected changes in the upcoming foldable.

As for the specs, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and feature a slightly larger battery. The phone will likely retain the same camera system as the Z Fold 5 but may offer an IPX8 rating for water resistance and 25W fast charging.

Samsung’s upcoming flagship foldable is also rumored to come with a titanium frame and Gorilla Glass Armor screen protection, similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Additionally, it could boast a generous seven years of Android OS and security updates, further extending its lifespan.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to be officially unveiled on July 10, 2024, at Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris.
