BYD unveiled the Qin L DM-i on May 28th, their first car to feature the company’s all-new fifth-generation DM hybrid technology. This innovative system boasts the world’s highest engine thermal efficiency (46.06%) and lowest fuel consumption (2.9L/100km), promising incredible efficiency and extended range for drivers.

The plug-in hybrid system combines a 1.5L engine with an electric motor.

The Qin L DM-i is a stylish sedan that blends modern design with cutting-edge tech. The car’s exterior features BYD’s latest family design with a bold front grille, sharp LED headlights reminiscent of a “dragon crystal,” and a sporty fastback silhouette. Inside, the driver-oriented cockpit boasts a large central console screen (available in 12.8 or 15.6 inches) and a multi-function steering wheel for easy control. High-end models offer additional comfort features like electric seat adjustment, ventilation, and heating.

Powering the Qin L DM-i is a plug-in hybrid system that combines a 1.5L engine with an electric motor. This, coupled with BYD’s blade lithium iron phosphate battery technology, translates to a potential combined driving range of up to 2,100 kilometers. Drivers can choose between two battery options depending on their needs: a lower capacity battery offering an 80km pure electric range or a larger battery extending that range to 120km (both based on CLTC conditions).

With its impressive blend of efficiency, technology, and style, the Qin L DM-i is available in five models starting at 99,800 yuan.
