India has been under lockdown for over a month to fight back the spread of coronavirus. Even e-commerce was non-operational except for certain essential goods. But from May 4, the government has announced certain relaxation, which also includes selling and delivery non-essential products like smartphones via online as well as offline retail stores.
Abiding the new rule, smartphone brands have started selling their devices in the country. Companies like Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, and Samsung have begun to take orders on their respective online stores.
However, they are not fully operational as they are only allowed to offer services to regions marked green and orange by the government. The same rule also applies for e-commerce companies like Flipkart and Amazon India who have also resumed their services.
Customers will have to enter their pin code to check availability of products to their area. On top of that, the delivery of ordered products could be delayed.
Also, Vivo has introduced a service by which users can order smartphones via SMS, which will be delivered by 20,000 retail stores across the country. Some of the local retail mobile shops have also been reopened in several regions.
Further, Xiaomi has also announced to launch Mi 10 in India this coming Friday, i.e. May 8. Whereas, Realme is yet to announce the new launch date for its long-delayed Narzo series.
