When it comes to Android tablets, Samsung and Huawei are the two big-name manufacturers still actively in the business, offering both high-end and mid-range models. LG may soon announce a new tablet under its G Pad series but its processor might be the deal-breaker for a lot of folks.

The tablet’s existence was discovered by Mishaal Rahman of XDA-Developers. It was recently certified by Google under the Android Recommended devices program and also to run Google services.

Called the LG G Pad 5 and with the model number LM-T600L, the listings reveal it has a 10.1-inch FHD+ display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. It has a fingerprint scanner but no NFC and runs Android 9 Pie with LG UX on top.

When it comes to processing power, the LG G Pad 5 is revealed to be powered by the Snapdragon 821 processor. Yes, the chipset that powered the flagships of 2016. This is also the same processor that powers the LG G7 Fit which was announced in August 2018. If you ask us, we will say LG still has a significant amount of that chipset in stock, hence the decision to use it for a 2019 tablet.

The processor is paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There is no confirmation of other configurations but it should have support for storage expansion. There is even a render of the upcoming tablet online.

The render shows the LG G Pad 5 has moderately sized black bezels. There is a camera visible in the middle of the top bezel. Unfortunately, there is no image of the rear.

The LG G Pad 5 will most likely get a silent launch, but we will make sure to cover it when it is unveiled.
