Last year, in July, Nubia unveiled the Red Magic 8S Pro smartphone as the world’s first phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version chipset. Today, the brand confirmed that the upcoming Red Magic 9S Pro, which is set to launch on July 3, will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version chip.

To recall, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Leading Version is an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which powered other Android flagship phones in 2022. The only other phones that feature the overlocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 are the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra. However, Samsung advertised the chip as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy.

The Galaxy S24 series that debuted earlier this year features the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, which clocks at 3.39GHz (3.4GHz). On the other hand, other flagship phones, such as the OnePlus 12, iQOO 12, Find X8 Ultra, and so on, have the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 that operates at 3.3GHz. The upcoming Red Magic 9S Pro will be the only phone to feature an overclocked SD8G3.The above poster identifies the chip as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version.

Apart from the increased CPU speed, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will also offer boosted GPU performance at 1GHz. The phone will also feature LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

The Red Magic 9S Pro’s other specs have not been revealed yet. However, it seems that the device’s other features will mirror those of the Red Magic 9 Pro, which made its announcement in November 2023. In addition to the 9S Pro, the brand will also announce the Red Magic Gaming Laptop on July 3 in China.
