BYD Dynasty has debuted its new mid-level sedan, the Qin L DM-i at the 2024 Beijing International Auto Show. The new model gets a design refresh in both the interior and exterior. It is equipped with the fifth generation DM-i hybrid and is positioned higher than the Qin PLUS DM-i currently on sale. The BYD Qin L DM-i is currently available for blind orders and will be launched on May 29. The expected price range is 120,000-150,000 yuan (~$16,609 – $20,762).

The new model will be available in five variants – 120KM Excellence, 120KM Beyond, 120KM Leading, 80KM Beyond, and 80KM Leading. In addition, the new model will come in four different color options on the exterior – Run Yu White, Jianyao Purple, Ice Amber Green, and Citrine Gray. The interior will have two different color options – Haoyue Rice and Xuanwu Gray.

Previously the Qin L was expected to bring major breakthroughs in terms of fuel consumption and battery life. According to reports, Qin L is built based on BYD‘s new generation plug-in hybrid vehicle platform and is specially designed for plug-in hybrid vehicles. This fifth-generation DM-i hybrid system consumes as low as 2.9L fuel per 100 kilometers. The battery life is also expected to reach 2000 kilometers.

The new car will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of a 1.5L engine and an electric motor. The engine displacement is 1498ml, the maximum power is 74kW, and it is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate blade battery.

According to reports, the length, width, and height of the car are 4830mm/1900mm/1495mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2790mm.

Speaking of the interior, the integrated center console slowly unfolds with the rotating large screen as the center. The seats are reportedly wide and comfortable. It is equipped with a DiLink smart cockpit, 15.6-inch adaptive rotating screen, NFC digital key, and on-board ETC. An intelligent driving assistant system offers adaptive cruise control, emergency lane-keeping assist, and blind spot monitoring, among other functionalities.
