A report from CNMO reveals that during the Huawei Cloud Internet 5G Innovation Summit, the company announced that in Q1 2020 in China, it reached 63 percent of the 5G smartphone shipments in its home country China and has a 5G smartphone market share of over 40 percent globally.

Huawei also said that the company managed to ship 15 million units of 5G mobile phones in the first quarter of the year. With such numbers, the company has surpassed the South Korean giant Samsung for the lead position.

Apart from increased internet speed, 5G technology is the game-changer and will be quite crucial for several other technologies, including cloud computing, AI, etc. While the 5G infrastructure is being developed in several countries, commercial operations have already begun in select countries, including China, the USA, and South Korea.

As more and more countries join the list of commercial 5G operations, the costing for the 5G smartphones is also expected to go down. In the near future, almost all the smartphones getting launched will be 5G-compatible, as the adoption of 5G increases.
